Emergency Response Vehicle
Regarding the planned renovations to Alcor’s emergency response vehicle, we have completed an intensive design and development phase. This consisted of several meetings between Steve Graber and the technical staff, with discussion of parts, vendors and viewing of product samples. Great care has been taken to select modular, off-the-shelf parts, although some custom-designed pieces will be required. Demolition began on the vehicle’s interior this past week and the approved design pieces are being acquired.

Remote Perfusion
Alcor is currently striving to further develop its remote perfusion capability. Before launching an initiative to train its emergency response staff, however, the appropriate equipment needs to be selected.

New Statistics (as of July)

Membership
Alcor currently has 892 members on its Emergency Responsibility List. Three memberships were approved, no memberships were reinstated, no memberships were cancelled and one member was cryopreserved. Overall, there was a net gain of two members this month.
Applicant
Alcor had 61 applicants for membership. Seven new applicants were added, three applicants were converted to members and three applicants were cancelled resulting in net gain of one applicant for this month.
Info Pack
There were 204 information packet requests. Nine were handed out during facility tours or from special requests. The average total of 160 information packets sent per month in 2009 is compared to 173 in 2008.

SINGULARITY SUMMIT 2009

Alcor on the History Channel–July 28

Eternal Life airs tonight July 28 at 10 pm (check local listings to confirm times). This is part of the That’s Impossible series currently being aired on the History Channel.

TX First Responders Training Session Postponed

The Alcor First Responders Training previously scheduled for July 25th and 26th has been postponed. However, the Cryonics Information Session will still be held on July 25th from 4:00 PM to 5:00pm at Steve Jackson Games.

The training session is now scheduled for August 29th and 30th.

Wealth Preservation Trust Update

The committee assigned to research and establish a Wealth Preservation Trust has reached their fund raising goal. The committee will be contracting an attorney shortly.

Team Training

Team Training
Plans are in the works to re-establish the Arizona team. The team will meet on a regular basis to not only provide team member training but also to train the professional team that will support the different regional teams.

Also, the survey sent out in May, 2009, regarding individuals interested in becoming team members in your area was sent to about 500-600 members with email addresses.

A. Drake stated that they have received 71 responses so far.

The upcoming Board meeting is scheduled for August 1, 2009, at the Alcor facility (7895 East Acoma Drive in Scottsdale, AZ) at 11:00 AM (MST).

Members and the public are encouraged to attend.

Deployment Committee

Deployment Committee
To better determine when a standby would be initiated and at what level, a Deployment Committee has been established. Comprised of Executive Director Jennifer Chapman, Transport Coordinator Aaron Drake and Chief Medical Advisor Steven Harris. Collectively the committee will review the details of a medical procedure or condition and evaluate the level of response and monitoring Alcor will undertake per its Comprehensive Member Standby program.
